The band enjoyed performing our programme of Our Band, Our Heritage, Our Towns and Our Future in the 1st section at Bolsover Festival of Brass 2023. The result wasn’t what we had hoped for but we put in a good performance nevertheless.
The programme celebrated our transport heritage, and Ken our oldest member who is still playing on baritone at the age of 94. Here he is with George (age 8) our newest recruit on percussion.
George had a great day and performed brilliantly supporting his mum Rowena on percussion. He even got a mention from the adjudicator praising his flag waving during ‘A Trip to Ride’!
Andy Allison performed well for his solo and his off-stage feature during the final item ‘A New Jerusalem’. The programme was conceived and compered by John Yarker.
A disappointing result but an enjoyable day and we look forward to performing again next year.
