New Musical Director: Gary Glover

New Musical Director: Gary Glover

Carlton Brass are delighted to announce the appointment of our new Musical Director Gary Glover. Gary is an old friend of Carlton having played Euphonium and conducted the band on occasions in the past. He is the former Director of Music of the Nottinghamshire Police Band and now works in and around the Nottinghamshire area as a musician and teacher. Gary already has a very busy diary teaching Music in two primary schools, several private piano and brass students, resident pianist at ‘Piano’ restaurant and principal euphonium in the Royal Signals (Northern) Band. His varied musical experience and considered approach to his audition material greatly impressed the band and we are very much looking forward to having him conduct us at our rehearsal tomorrow night. Band spokesperson Dave Rutt said, "Gary has been a friend of the band for a number of years. He's a super Euphonium player and has spent time both within the band as a player and as a guest...

Gary Wyatt resigns

Gary Wyatt resigns

Some sad news from the Carlton Bandroom. Our Musical Director Gary Wyatt has resigned from the band, having conducted us since July 2016. We have greatly enjoyed his tenure in front of the band, highlighted by our successful trip to the French Open in June 2018 and trophy-winning performances at NEMBBA and the Denby Pottery Entertainment Contest. The band would like to express their thanks for his time with us and wish him every success with whatever comes next - especially his trip to the Royal Albert Hall with Desford Band. Carlton Brass are now inviting applications for Gary's replacement. Interested parties should please contact our new Chairman Andy McCormack (07882305141) or email info@carltonbrass.co.uk. We rehearse in our own bandroom on Monday & Thursday evenings in Netherfield, Nottingham between 8 and 10PM. ...

Farewell Wink

Farewell Wink

It is with much sadness that Carlton Brass announce that MD Paul 'Wink' Watson has resigned from the band, due to ill health. Wink has been conducting us for the last two years, achieving some excellent results - not least directing us to be the 2015 second section champions and gaining an excellent 4th at the subsequent National Finals, our first Finals visit for 14 years. He took us to NEMBBA success in the same year, along with promotion back into the first section. Prior to this Wink was the 'powerhouse' of our band bottom end, playing solo baritone for many years. He has been a member of the Carlton Organisation for large parts of the past 40 years - starting playing with the Carlton Silver band all the way back in 1975 - and has been a wonderful ambassador for us throughout. He has many friends at Carlton Brass and we are going to miss him very much. We do hope that he...
