(or How a railway band took on the Miners!)

1st Place – 2nd Section

Back at the Fox

Wow! and I mean Wow, what a fantastic day we had.

Starting at some unearthly hour of the morning we left a cold and frosty Carlton for Skeggy. Steve our contest sec had left earlier to attend the draw and phoned the draw to us as we arrived on site. After warming up with hot drinks and breakfast it was great to see so many friends at the venue. Being drawn number 11 gave us all chance to listen to some bands in the other sections as well as in ours.

As playing time neared we entered the control area to sign in. Some of the players had concerns that we did not have a rehearsal or warm up before we took to the stage. This was all put to one side once we started playing. From the opening note to the final one we gave it our all. Not a note perfect performance but one that we were all pleased with especially Tony Wilson.

So with all the kit packed away it was off to the bar and some fun. With the results being held at 8pm this meant that we would hear them on the way back home. Shortly after 8 Hayley had the phone call that we were all waiting for, and when the result came that band number 11 had won, the bus erupted into a mad “Mayhem”.

Back at Carlton it was “Dump the kit and head for The Fox”. Shortly after 10 Steve arrived with the “Swag” (We hope that the speed camera’s were turned off!) The photo and the remarks say the rest. So now for NEMBBA and Variations for Brass. We have some new players signing for us and details will be announced very soon. Watch this space!!!!
