Welcome Along

Over the last month or so Carlton Brass has made large strides in its attempts to bolster the player roster. 2009 will see the band in a strong promotion position – a good result in Bedworth next March could mean that Nottingham would have a Championship Section band once more. The band has been in need of strengthening throughout 2008 and thankfully the players have now been found.

We are delighted to have acquired Barry Tupper on solo euphonium. Barry is a talented soloist with a lot of experience and joins us at a key time in the bands history.

Nottingham Market Square

10th December 2008. Various members of the Carlton Brass Organisation, both young and old, will be performing Christmas Carols in Nottingham Market Square from 18:30.

This is a good time to catch both the Training Band and senior band playing together so please come down to support us.

Lakeside Carols

8th/14th/21st/22nd December 2008. Carlton Brass will be performing Christmas Carols and a selection of Christmas-themed music at Lakeside Tower between 19:00 and 21:30. There will also be some operatic fair from the Alan Johnson Singers. Prepare to be serenaded from the balcony!

‘Tis The Season

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat. And Carlton Brass have begun the busy Christmas concert season in style.

Thursday 4th December saw the band performing at Southwell Minster. This was the annual MacMillan Christmas concert that we’ve been able to support as an organisation for the past seven years. It’s a favourite of ours in the banding calender as it’s a great charity and a wonderful venue for a concert.

Joining us at the Minster were Carlton Male Voice Choir, who were in excellent voice, and the rather wonderful Lace City Chorus who just seem to get better and better every year. The Minster was packed to the rafters with an audience that enjoyed an evening of Christmas-themed music.

Vacancies

Carlton Brass are looking some quality brass musicians to bolster the band in its ambitions to improve towards contests in the new year.

We are currently looking for quality second and bass trombones, either tuned or kit (or preferably both) percussionists and a back-row cornet. There is also a position available for a BBb bass player.
